Over the last couple of weeks I have seen the spectrum of human emotions about the iPad.  First people couldn’t sleep the night before because of the impeding announcement.  After the announcement everyone was asking, “what the hell?”  Why would I pay for an overpriced iPod?

Behind the scene publishers were intrigued.  Was this the digital channel in which publishers could make money?

Hopefully the lessons learned is that consumers will not pay for content that they can get free somewhere else.   If publishers continue to only re purpose and not develop new content as new media channels are developed, publishers will continue to face the same revenue issues they have dealt with the last 10 years.

People need to realize that new channels mean new rules.  How hard is that to understand?
